Star was only beaten by the Cadets during the 1993 season. This occurred 4 times. They lost to the Cadets by 0.3 points on August 7, 1993 at the DCI Drums Along the Rockies in Denver, CO, by 0.4 points on August 11, 1993 at the DCI Summer Music Games Tour in Texarkana, AR. Star beat the Cadets by 0.4 points at the DCI World Championship Quarterfinals and subsequently lost to the Cadets by 0.3 points in the Semifinals and by 0.1 in the finals. In total Star won 30 shows in 1993 (including 1 tie with the Cadets) and lost only 4 times (all second place and to the Cadets). Star only faced the Cadets 9 times in competition in 1993 (4 wins by Star, 4 wins by the Cadets and 1 tie).

By making finals this year, Star became the second corps in the history of DCI to make it to the finals in the first year of its existence (first was the Bleu Raeders in 1972). Subsequent rule changes have made this impossible as first year corps cannot compete as Division I.
